Our client, a freight forwarder is looking for a Customs Coordinator to join their office in Birmingham.


The role of Customs in Birmingham will involve:

  • Prepare customs entries on imports and exports ensuring a high level of accuracy and full compliance.
  • Using CHIEF and CDS systems.
  • Sound understanding of Destin8 / CNS
  • Ability to process docs such as COO,EUR1 on ICERT
  • Ensuring a screening process takes place to review client documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists.
  • Processing refunds via HMRC
  • Sound trade tariff knowledge
  • Guaranteeing the import/export of finished products and components, ensuring the process is costeffective and efficient.
  • Taking decisive action with the organisation of the flows of your activity.
  • Ensuring Customs authorisation documentation are checked and correctly completed.
  • You guarantee compliance with international transport regulations and customs procedures.
  • Coordinate international transport operations.
  • Ensure the prioritisation of local customs administrations.

The successful applicant will have:


  • Previous experience working with customs data and knowledge of customs legislation.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational skills and be proactive.
  • The desire to learn and progress.
  • At least 2 years working in customs
  • The ability to work in a team/good teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills including Excel
