Job overview:
We are looking for a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist to work five days per week in the inpatient wards at Longreach House which covers adult and older adult groups.
Applicants will need to be self-motivated, ideally have prior experience of working in an acute mental health ward and have completed the MSc course in Clinical Associate Psychology to be considered for this post.
Main duties of the job:
To offer psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to an identified person on Harvest ward under the supervision of the lead psychologist.
- To communicate constructively with a range of healthcare professionals in inpatient units including nurses, social workers, allied health professionals (AHPs) and medical colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Play an active role in the wider inpatient psychology team, attending meetings and CPD as required.
- Liaise with relevant external agencies to facilitate psychological intervention.
- Communicate new learning approaches and provide constructive feedback to challenge and overcome barriers to implementation of best psychological practice.
- Communicate to others the core concepts of psychological theory, research and practice in order to enhance their delivery of psychological interventions.
- Provide advice, consultation and training for others to inform and support psychological models of change and interventions.
- Provide training within teams to enhance delivery of clinical interventions appropriate to the psychological needs of patients across a range of service settings.
- Understand the impact of multiple perspectives within the context of multidisciplinary teams.
- Explain the rationales to individuals, groups and other healthcare colleagues, for evidence based psychological treatment models and protocols.
