The Purpose of the Role
The role holder will play an instrumental part in contributing to and delivering the Talent Development agenda.

The Talent Development Coordinator is responsible for being a contributing member of the Talent team by owning and delivering stand-alone pieces of work as well as providing support to the Talent Development Lead & Talent, Learning & Development Function bycontinuing to drive meaningful development of talent across the Post Office, laying solid foundations aligned to the wider Talent, Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

A major area of focus will be in supporting cyclical processes, in particular the hiring andplacement of early careers colleagues (i.e. apprentices and graduates), performance development review (PDR) and ongoing talent and succession reviews.

The role holder will have the opportunity to personally develop, broaden their knowledge and experience in relation to Talent practices.


Principal Accountabilities

  • To own and deliver aspects of the business wide Talent Development plan while constantly reviewing priorities and remaining agile
  • Support the development and execution of Talent Development events and programmes, working closely with the Talent Development lead providing project coordination support, maintenance of plans and schedules, document control, communications with linemanagers and course/programme participants
  • To broaden diversity of perspective, thought and contribution within the area. By continuously striving for an environment whereby colleagues have ownership, accountability and feel involved in an 'owned by all' culture
  • To champion the Talent Development agenda, facilitating events (both internal and external) & meetings and driving action planning and tracking progress against plans
  • To show 'thoughtleadership' spotting trends in industrial practices in novel and effective Talent Management and sharing them internally to enable Post Offices' Talent Assessment and Development
  • Taking the lead on influencing Post Office on future possibilities in Talent Assessment and Development e.g. working with the Careers Development Lead to establish a clearer understanding of the Apprentice and Graduate Management landscape to generategreater understanding of Early Careers to stimulate demand to build key capabilities in line with Post Offices' strategy and capability needs
  • To ensure the annual Talent & Succession cycle is well planned and coordinated, again ensuring communications and documentation is well maintained, roles and responsibilities are clear, data and reporting are managed appropriately and securely, and thatadhoc queries can be handled. Influencing business areas to complete activities as per the calendar of events to ensure that the timelines are achieved.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in the field of careers, performance management and/or employee development with a genuine passion for the area
  • Project management skills are desirable
  • A desire to learn about best practice and industry trends in Talent Development with a appreciation of how to design, land and manage solutions in a large, complex organisation
  • Have a flexible and pragmatic approach and adaptability to a constantly changing environment, whilst delivering and maintaining a principled approach aligned to POL's values
  • Ability to work flexibly both in terms of location as an when the role requires travel, and also work schedule as and when early/late working is necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable facilitating meetings and presenting
  • Interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels, motivate others and influence positive change
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality ensuring that vital information is neither missed nor misreported
  • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues within Post Office, and 3rd parties
  • Initiative and the ability to offer new ideas based on best practice
