Never before has the public shown such interest in data-driven journalism, and RADAR is at the forefront of engaging readers with the numbers they need to know.

We've established ourselves as a relied-upon service in local newsrooms across the UK, and we are looking for a new data reporter who can deliver high-quality stories.

We are looking for number-savvy writers who know their way around a spreadsheet to join our team.

You'll have the opportunity to cover some of the pressing stories in the news cycle, alongside carrying out longer-term investigations and projects.

Our reporters are some of the best in the business: we often lead news coverage across local publications, while our service is at the cutting edge of AI-led journalism and was recognised as "one to watch" in Future Today Institute's 2023 Tech Trends report.

The Vacancy:
Working for a newswire, the ability to write clean copy is essential.

Our stories all involve data, so you need to be comfortable working with numbers, alongside the traditional journalism skills of research and interviewing.

Our team have come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share previous experience of journalism. We want reporters who have honed their news sense and can produce stories to deadline.

Who you'll be:
We want to make sure you're set for success, so the key skills we're looking for in this role are:

A strong news sense.
Clean copy writing, and ability to deliver copy to regular deadlines.
To be able to analyse data and identifying trends in it.
To work with Microsoft Excel.
Collaborative working.

Nice-to-haves:

Experience analysing and cleaning data using programming languages such as R or Python.
Data visualisation skills.
Experience writing for local news outlets.
