Are you a qualified, or soon to be qualified, Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)/Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) looking for an exciting new opportunity?


We are seeking a highly motivated practitioner for a permanent position to join our valued Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service in delivering early intervention approaches to children and families utilising the THRIVE model.

The CWP intervention aims to improve the quality of life for children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, and reduce the likelihood of a need for specialist services.


CWP's work in partnership with other parts of the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service, including Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioners, and Mental Health Support Teams, as well as partner agencies.

We can offer you the chance to work within a dynamic, supportive, community-based team, as part of the wider mental health network and within the new YOUnited referral hub.


The role will involve a blended approach of digital/telephone sessions as well as face to face contacts with children, young people and families within the community.

Therefore the ability to work from home is required, as well as ability to travel to community venues as needed.


The role involves assessment and provision of short term psychological interventions using cognitive behavioural therapy informed guided self help, and groupwork.


The role involves clinical time within YOUnited, which is a partnership between CPFT, CCS Trust, Centre 33 and Ormiston Families for referrals for children and young people's emotional and mental wellbeing.

The partnership aim is to help build relationships and promote closer working together to support mental health and wellbeing.

The successful applicant will be required to travel across the local and wider geographical area as needed. There is one fulltime post available.

  • Conducting assessments, including assessing risk. Identifying need and referring to other services as needed.
  • Providing evidence based interventions for children, young people and parents/carers appropriate to their presentation.
  • Working in partnership with other services/agencies and ensuring good communication leading to effective and efficient packages of care.
  • Being aware of safeguarding and making referrals as needed, including Early Help Assessments.
  • Facilitating parent/carer groups for building confidence with their child/children.
  • Empowering and working collaboratively with parents/carers, children and young people.
  • Empowering children and young people to manage their own presenting difficulties.
  • Completing routine outcome measures as part of the intervention.
  • Working within the YOUnited referral hub providing assessments and interventions.
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies within the YOUnited referral hub.
