Would you like the opportunity to join an emerging Procurement Team in a FTSE 100 business?


Due to exciting transformation, we are pleased to announce an opportunity for a procurement professional, with extensive experience and the ability to build relationships, to join our Procurement & Supplier Management (GPSM) team as a lead Business Partner.


In this leadership role you will proactively engage with the senior leadership of the assigned Business Unit(s) to understand evolving business strategies, capture, and address business demand and needs for third party services and to subsequently ensure delivery of support by working closely with both the Sourcing Delivery and Supplier Management team.

Ensure sourcing initiatives are delivered in-line with L&G policies, risk appetite and regulatory requirements, whilst ensuring maximum value is delivered to our customers.

You'll play a key role in influencing how the Procurement & Supplier Management function is perceived within the business, and there will be a lot of opportunity for you to take ownership and shape how this is done.

What you'll be doing

  • Engage with senior stakeholders in the assigned Business Unit(s) to understand, challenge, influence and capture business demand for sourcing activities, identify opportunities to generate commercial benefits and drive exceptional customer satisfaction for GPSM.
  • Be accountable for the overarching implementation of category management processes in third party spend (incl. demand planning, supplier market assessment, assessment of opportunities and defining business requirements, monitoring performance management of categories relative to targets/KPIs) and managing risks / mitigating issues.
  • Participate in leading commercial, legal and service level negotiations of thirdparty contracts and managing disputes, including the interaction of internal stakeholders, suppliers and external legal counsel in line with company policy and needs.
  • Manage associated risks associated with purchasing activity in accordance with the L&G risk appetite through establishing and ensuring compliance with agreed Legal & General policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and by engendering professional ethics.
  • Responsible for understanding their Business Unit(s) supply base, market trends and regulatory landscape to shape sourcing, contracting and negotiation in third party spend across categories, increase commercial knowledge and understanding to the benefit of the business.
  • In all situations where suppliers provide goods and services directly to our external customers, ensure that procurement activity and supplier relationships are managed in line with Legal & General's Consumer Duty commitments.
  • Responsible for influencing a matrix sourcing team, to ensuring resources are in place to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Responsible for defining business unit category strategies, executing strategic sourcing, negotiations and contracting in the domain of third party spend.
What we're looking for

  • Intellectual leadership and indepth knowledge in Sourcing, Procurement and Supply Chain including category management, sourcing execution and procurement technology.
  • Proficient in Sourcing and P2P best practices and strategies, Team Management including offshore teams, track record of success in consulting / outsourcing Business Development.
  • Strong presence and ability to influence a diverse mix of stakeholders. Excellent leadership and business partnering skills to achieve meaningful business outcomes.
  • Agile and adaptable to quickly respond and support evolving business needs.
  • Ability to lead teams while role modelling L&G behaviours through all engagement of stakeholders.
