JOB TITLE:
TEA COOK/COOK

The Tea Cook will be responsible in ensuring that the Residents receive good quality meals, well prepared and well presented.

The Tea Cook will prepare and cook a balanced nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment.

Uniform and PPE are supplied.


PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• Genuine interest in elderly people and their wellbeing.
• Experience in Nutrition and menu planning.
• Experience in cooking for the needs of the elderly would be an advantage.
• Hold a suitable qualification as well as a Food & Hygiene Certificate.
• Selfmotivated.
• Ability to delegate
• Good time management skills and the ability to multi task.
• Calm and positive attitude.
• Ability to adapt to the systems already in place.
• A commitment to continual personal development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• All cooking duties
• Serving up of meals, and drink preparations as required.
• Ensure after each meal samples of food are retained in sample pots in chilled form for the required period of time.
• To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods.
• Ensure all cleaning is correctly and promptly done.
• Control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage.
• Be aware of Residents needs and dietary preferences.
• Respond to the Residents comments and requests in respect of the menu.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings.
• Reporting defects in equipment and all unusual incidents to the Cook and/or Registered Manager.
• Other duties as specified by the management.

SHIFTS:

As per the rota, weekend shifts will be involved every other weekend. It may also be necessary to cover for the Cook absences.

The hours of work will be as per the job offer letter, as discussed in the interview, Monday - Friday When working weekend 2 days off will be given through the week as per rota.

TRAINING:

All mandatory training as determined by current regulations will be necessary, as well as other trainings determined by the Manager.

EMPLOYMENT ESSENTIALS:

Provision of three references, one from current or most recent employer, two character references.

Satisfactory DBS check.

COVID-19 considerations:
Lateral Flow test are required before every shift. All PPE is provided. Hand wash stations are throughout the home.
