Job description

Based at:
On site office


Hours & employment basis:
Self employed role, hours as and when required (Site operating hours - Monday - Saturday 8- 6pm, Sunday - 6pm, Seasonally to 9pm) - Approximately 20-25 hrs per week
- working a minimum of 4 days

Pay:
Commensurate on experience and references


The Role:


We are looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Purchase Ledger clerk, who is confident in an organisation that is fast moving with high volume when it comes to the purchase ledger function.

You'll be working on the accounts of an established large family owned retail organisation on the Wirral. This is a pivotal role within the company.

You will be the first point of contact for all purchase ledger related queries both internally and externally, therefore you must be organised and an excellent communicator.


Working on site closely with the Company Directors, Accounts and management team, this role is offered on a self employed basis, with flexible working hours.

We estimate an average of
20-25 hours per week, over 4 working days, which will fluctuate with seasonal variations and financial reporting.

This role would be ideal for someone who has a sound knowledge of purchase ledger and associated activities.


Responsibilities:

Some of the tasks associated with the role include (but are not limited to):


  • Purchase Ledger
  • Responsible for accurate processing of all supplier invoices and for their regular payment. Reconciliation of supplier invoices against goods/services and statements received and following up credit notes where appropriate
Inputting scheduled payments to all suppliers ready for authorisation using Sage Supplier payments amongst other processes.

Nominal Ledger
  • Responsible for accurate processing to nominal ledgers, journals, accruals & prepayments. Assisting in the production of month and year end reports liaising with auditors and accountants

VAT:


  • Responsible for the accurate allocation of VAT within the purchase ledger and assisting in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.

Reporting to - the accounts manager, director & authorised external parties.


Skills and Experience

  • Experienced in all aspects of purchase ledger including VAT
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a high volume environment
  • Must have good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
  • Knowledge of Excel essential
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Able to manage workload in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent at working to and keeping deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Confident in communicating with external parties including suppliers and regulatory bodies
  • Be proactive and look to solve problems before they potentially occur
  • Good reporting skills
  • Good initiative and ability to use common sense
  • Reliable and able to commit to the required hours
  • You will ideally have already completed the AAT qualification or similar.
