BioteCH4 own and operate a group of anaerobic digestion facilities across the UK. We also provide biological support, emergency response and feedstock supply to other operators within the industry.

In 2022 BioteCH4 handled 557,000 tonnes of waste, applied 347,229 tonnes of digestate to land, and generated 280,000 MWh of energy.


Local Generation is a state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion Facility based on the outskirts of March, Cambridgeshire, with an annual processing capacity of 120,000 metric tonnes. Commissioned in 2011 the business produces renewable energy from a combination of food wastes and sits within a 7-acre site and is capable of producing 12.2MW energy generation.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Hygiene Operative to join a great team of people and make a difference within a supportive and values-led Organisation.


Working Days/Hours:
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm


Annual Salary:
£26,000


The main responsibilities of this role are to ensure the site is maintained to APHA, EA and regulatory hygiene standards.

Maintaining good housekeeping; keep the site clean and tidy and report and resolve issues any issues in a timely manner to ensure regulatory compliance.


Key areas of role responsibility:


  • Contain and clear any spillages on site in an efficient and safe manner
  • Liaise with Engineering team and SHEQ team to ensure that root cause resolution can be
  • Understand and operate the vehicle spillage process on site in an efficient manner
  • Be organised and maintain a high standard of housekeeping around the site, including litter picking and weed control, managing the cleanliness of the reception, pads and overall site
  • Ensuring provisions are in place to allow adherence of Animal Health & Environment Agency requirements (i.e. footbaths always in operation, no food waste is spilt outside the reception hall, litter is collected / prevented from leaving the reception hall, not accepting food waste where the EWC code does not feature on our permitted list, doors not left open for prolonged periods etc.)
  • Daily check on all Bunds and Tanker points
  • Daily site litter pick/check
  • Report any issues, shortages and problems to the correct lead, including any equipment defects or lack of supplies
  • Adhere to the sites safe working practices
  • Ensuring that time keeping, and punctuality is maintained at an acceptable level.
  • Any other duties in addition to normal operational tasks
  • Follow company procedures
  • Report and support in accidents, incidents and near miss investigations by providing statements and evidence where required
  • Ensure accidents, incidents and near miss reporting procedures are understood and implemented
  • Follow and adhere to risk assessment controls and PPE requirements
  • Adhere to H&S criteria contained within the company SOP's, Risk Assessments, Policies and Procedures, in accordance with the appropriate H&S legislative elements for the role
  • Set a personal example with regard to Health & Safety matters, promoting the safety culture through observations, site standards and workplace safety

Individual competency & role requirements:


Essential:
Fork Lift License


Advantageous:

JCB, Scissor Lift; Telehandler certification and experience; Emergency first aid trained; working knowledge of H&S and COSHH regulations; Experience of the waste / AD industry.
