The Neurology Department has an exciting and varied role for a full-time vacancy for a Medical Secretary / Pathway Navigator.


This role also encompasses Neurophysiology Administration, dealing with appointments for nerve conduction studies and the distribution of reports and uploading these results on to Cerner.

This vacancy requires interaction with patients, GPs, Consultants, and team members.

To deal with telephone enquiries from GPs, patients and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner to ensure that appropriate messages are passed onto the relevant people in a timely fashion.

To communicate highly sensitive information to patients / consultants.

To ensure and maintain the efficient and effective administration of neurology and neurophysiology clinics, cancelling and amending clinic lists following instruction from the clinicians, Senior Sister and ADM.

Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative service to the Consultants and multi-disciplinary team.


The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications or at least two years' experience of working as a Medical Secretary and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.


There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.
