SEND Learning Support Assistants 1:- START ASAP - 5 days a week

Working hours 8:30- 3:45


I am recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work 1 to 1 with a child with special educational needs in Key stage 1 in welcoming Derby City school.


This role is varied, and the school is looking for an adaptable, flexible and resourceful individual, able to cope in a high-pressure environment and deal with constantly changing priorities.

You will be working to support a SEND pupil under the supervision of the teacher/SENCO. The school is looking for a flexible person with a caring nature who enjoys working with children. Experience with Autism and challenging behaviour would be an advantage.
- be resilient and adaptable
- have excellent communication skills,
- be self-motivated but also works effectively within the support staff team and with teachers and parents.
- enjoy working with children, helping them develop skills and learn effectively.

  • Have experience in supporting children with special needs.

Are you experienced in:


  • Working with a wide range of class teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning.
  • Coaching children on a 1:1 basis.
  • Accompanying groups on trips.
  • Supporting assessment and evidencing learning
  • Working with the teacher to create stimulating classroom displays and learning resources
  • Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all learners
  • Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability

You will need:


  • Competency in English and Maths
  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 qualified or above /equivalent experience
  • Previous childcare experience.

- a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
- the ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
- a can-do attitude.
- a commitment to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.
