We in the M&S Food Buying team do We are food and drink obsessed and spend our days working firstly with external raw material suppliers and manufacturers, secondly with the internal team of buyers, category product developers & technologists, along with many other partners, to deliver an exciting own-label offering that constantly delights and engages our customers.
To be part of our team you need to be passionately obsessed by manufacturing, linked to food and retail, tenacious, self-starting and a confident leader.
You'll know how to make decisions, what is commercial and how to implement change in an appropriate way.
Your role is to help M&S Food drive quality up, availability up and costs down where appropriate, deliver its strategy alongside the trading teams and be successful, so we need hard workers and big problem solvers.

We are looking for a Raw Material Buyer who will continue to drive our market share and who will push the boundaries and celebrate success.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a truly collaborative team with ambitious growth plans and be involved in delivering both the category and supplier strategy to deliver this.
- Be the raw materials procurement lead in your given categories
- Manage a complex portfolio of commodity areas supplied into our key manufacturers
- Drive both inflation mitigation and lowering cost benefits as part of a team budget position
- Ensure M&S is protected from cost and supply risks
- Negotiate your own categories with the end user and partners in mind at all times
- Find a balance between longer term, strategic arrangements and more transactional short term agreements.
- Generate and land a category plan for your areas
- Drive cost out within raw materials that maintains M&S quality expectations
- Compliance with GSCOP guidelines at all times
