We are looking to recruit a qualified Band 8a to provide support to our current Corporate and Estates Division.

The post holder will be a self-motivated Senior Financial Advisor who can support all financial aspects of the Trust's Divisional finance responsibilities.

The post holder will be a CCAB or CIMA member or finalist and be able to demonstrate professional credibility within their field.


The role is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Head of Financial Advice in the delivery of a financial advisory service to the Corporate and Estates Divisions and to deputise for them where necessary.

You will drive the month end, budget and forecast processes, ensuring that figures are accurate and processes are robust.

There will also be involvement in Business Cases, Efficiency/CIP schemes and working with the Division on their Service Line Reporting position.


They will present the financial position at Directorate meetings and lead on provision of the financial advice service to the division, ensuring that it manages its resources within budget and strives to improve financial performance whilst delivering a qualitative service.


Responsibilities include investigating & advising on highly complex business management issues to improve financial awareness, performance, and to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of the Division.

You will be responsible for the management and performance of a Divisional Financial Advice Team to support the divisions.


You will have exceptional communication skills with both finance and non-finance staff, coupled with a flexible approach to work and significant experience of costing complex services.

You will also be capable of working under pressure, prioritising to meet tight deadlines and multi-tasking. Strong IT skills are also a key requirement.

The post is currently based at Preston Business Centre which is within 2 miles of junction 32 of the M6 motorway.


To actively develop internal relationships and work with Divisional leads, Directorate leads, Transformation Director & team, Financial Advisors and key stakeholders, ensuring full clinical and non-clinical engagement.

To be responsible for own continual professional development and that of all direct reports.

To be actively engaged in developing staff within the team and providing training & support to operational managers on financial issues.


Take the lead within the Division to develop and maintain service line reporting in ensuring that income and costs are appropriately allocated to speciality/departmental level.

Effectively maintain the budgetary control system to enable the Directorates and the Trust to achieve its income and expenditure targets

Take the lead for the Division in advising and recommending alternative courses of action to improve financial performance. Ensure the financial advisory service is efficient and effective.


Produce achievable financial plans for the Division in conjunction with the operational managers and inform the Assistant Finance Director of the implications.

Produce realistic forecast income and expenditure positions for the Division in conjunction and agreement with the divisional Director. Provide information to the division to ensure corrective actions are agreed for any deviations from plan.

Provide overall management and supervision to all activities undertaken within the Divisional Financial Advice Team so that services are provided in an efficient manner consistent with necessary timescales

Deputise for the Assistant Finance Director or Deputy Head of Financial Advice in his or her absence as required.
