People officer (maternity cover), hybrid working
£27,232-£28,665 plus generous benefits


Contract: 6 months with possible extension


Full time:35 hours (net); flexible working considered

What Works for Children's Social Care (WWCSC) and the Early Intervention Foundation (WWEICSC) are merging.

Our new single What Works centre, initially operating under the name What Works for Early Intervention and Children's Social Care (WWEICSC), will cover the full range of support for children and families from preventative approaches, early intervention, and targeted support for those at risk of poor outcomes, through to support for children with a social worker, children in care, and care leavers.


In our fast-paced People team we are seeking a people officer to provide efficient and effective support in all aspects of HR administration, learning and development, and onboarding and recruitment.


The people officer will support the senior people officers and the assistant director of people & resources to ensure a high quality and professional HR administration service is provided.

The role will assist with the day-to-day operations of the team's functions and duties, including drafting contracts of employment, contractual change letters, assisting with staff queries and arranging staff events as directed.

The postholder will work alongside the recruitment officer, ensuring a high-quality onboarding and recruitment service is provided.

They will also work closely with the senior people officer, supporting with all learning and development activities, including booking internal speakers for regular lunch and learn sessions, booking authorised training sessions and ensuring that new and existing staff attend mandatory training sessions in a timely manner.

The individual will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure. They would have experience in a similar role and the ability to act with tact and diplomacy.

It is essential for the right person to be a collaborative colleague with strong administration skills and the ability to keep track of multiple projects at the same time.
