The post holder will be part of the Getting Help Team, a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who provide assessment, treatment, care coordination and planning for children and/or young people with moderate to severe mental health and neuropsychiatric difficulties, under supervision of the team leader and relevant clinical supervisor.


We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic CAMHS Practitioner who is passionate about working with children and young people, who is keen to develop collaborative approaches and support the commitment of Croydon CAMHS to continually improve access to services for all community groups.


Croydon CAMHS works closely with Kings and IoPPN to provide learning opportunities to systemic Practitioners and Psychotherapists and there are opportunists to provide additional training clinics, teaching and supervision.


The post holder will join the Getting Help Team, a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who provide assessment, treatment, care coordination and planning for children and/or young people with moderate to severe mental health and neuropsychiatric difficulties, under supervision of the team leader and relevant clinical supervisor.


  • To provide a service to children and/or young people and their families/carers in Croydon CAMHS including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
  • To care co-ordinate and manage treatment delivered to each young person referred, including developing, reviewing and adapting interventions.
  • To communicate assessment and treatment information to young people their families and to other professionals.
  • To undertake proactive risk management and safety planning in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To participate in the duty system for the service.


South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust(SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol.

We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To provide assessments, formulations and interventions for clients in Croydon CAMHS including evidencebased individual and/or family and/or group Tier 3 level interventions.
  • To act as care coordinatortaking responsibility forinitiating, planning and reviewing care plans, CPA coordination (as necessary) and meetings.
  • To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans for children and young people in your care and work under the supervision of senior clinicians and closely with consultant psychiatrists to manage these situations effectively.
  • To be a member of a number of internal and external professional networks to ensure that care plans for individual children and services across agencies are coordinated efficiently and effectively.
  • To participate as a multidisciplinary team member in the setting and reviewing of therapeutic aims, objectives, standards and strategies to provide a high standard of care to children, young people and their families.
  • To contribute to the team or service's delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.
  • To be proactive in challenging discrimination and support the development of culturally competent services.
  • To contribute to the effective functioning of the team and service through attendance at relevant meetings, taking responsibilities within the service as appropriate and negotiated with the line manager.
  • To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry.
