CAF IMPACT ACCELERATOR

The CAF Impact Accelerator draws on CAF's leading expertise in social investment, grantmaking and impact advisory in order to support our clients to achieve even greater impact.

Through the Impact Accelerator, clients can access bespoke advice on how to bring their impact to the next level as well as delivering that impact through grantmaking and social investment programmes.


CAF IMPACT COMMITTEE

The Impact Committee is a delegated committee of the CAF Group Executive Committee, accountable to the CAF Finance, Investment and Impact Committee.

The Impact Committee serves as the primary decision-making body for CAF's Impact Accelerator activities namely:


  • Social investment loans
  • Blended finance (loan and grant)
  • Grants made from CAF's discretionary funds
It also provides oversight of the Impact Accelerator's activities and performance.

The Impact Committee's purpose is to approve support for charities and social enterprises by:

  • Considering and approving loan proposals and variations
  • Agreeing action to be taken to manage delinquent loans, including the taking of legal action and recommending the level of provisioning and write off
  • Overseeing the investment of CAF's discretionary funds
  • Considering and approving blended finance proposals from CAF's discretionary philanthropic funds
  • Considering and approving proposals for nonstandard aspects of legacy administration and distribution that require specific decisions to be made on behalf of Trustees through delegated authority
  • Acting as a sounding board for the Impact Accelerator team


Membership of the committee consists of CAF employees (Group Chief Executive, Managing Director of Philanthropy Services, the Group Chief Finance Officer and the Group Chief Operating Officer) and up to four non-executive members.

The Chair of the Impact Committee is the Managing Director of Philanthropy Services.

Meetings are held on a monthly basis (except for August), and usually run for up to 2.5 hours. Meetings are held at our central London office with the option to join via Zoom.


ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for external members, who would be happy to commit to monthly meetings for a three-year term.


We are committed to building an Impact Committee that is diverse, inclusive and able to identify with the challenges faced by charities and social enterprises, including related to accessing financing.

We are looking for committee members with one or more of the following skills:

  • Significant experience in lending/investment (early stage, social investment, impact investing, high-risk);
  • Significant experience of delivering, evaluating and scaling social impact;
  • Charity/social enterprise leadership experience (CEO, finance director or other senior position, board member, particularly if you have experience of raising investment, borrowing money); and
  • Experience in grant making.
  • Expertise in DEI or climate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • The Impact Committee meets monthly (except for August). Investment papers and other relevant information are circulated prior to meetings and will require review ahead of meetings.
  • Meetings are either inperson in our London office, virtual or in hybrid format.
  • We ask committee members to commit to a minimum threeyear term, with the potential for an extension for a further three years by mutual agreement.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
3- Final appointment process by CAF Executive team by April 2023

We aim for the new members to start attending meetings in April or May 2023.
