John Grenfell & Son Funeral Directors are looking to recruit a Funeral Service operative to join our well established & experienced team.
We are an independent family firm who have been funeral directors for four generations.

We are committed to providing the highest standards of funeral care while attending to families in Bedlington, Ashington, Morpeth, Blyth & surrounding areas.

Your duties as a Funeral Service Operative would include:

• Driving our fleet such as our Hearse, Limousines & private ambulance.
• Pallbearing on funeral services
• Transferring deceased persons into our care in a dignified & respectful manner using our specialist equipment.
• Ensuring our vehicles, premises and equipment are cleaned & maintained to a high standard.
• Completing internal & external mortuary registers and transporting confidential paperwork to crematoria & cemetery offices.
• Light property maintenance including cleaning, sweeping, painting etc within our branches.
• Assisting our funeral directors on funeral services with handling floral tributes, service sheets & providing support to allow funerals to run as smoothly as possible.
• Working as part of our oncall Rota, which includes being on standby during certain weekends throughout the year as part of our transfer team.

To be considered applicants will require/be expected to:

• A full UK driving license with at least two years driving experience
• Competence driving larger vehicles
• Good communication skills & have a caring & compassionate nature
• To live within a reasonable distance to our office
  (for on call purposes)

You would also be expected to:

• Be confident & caring while dealing with bereaved families
• Understand the importance of confidentiality
• Act in a professional way at all times to maintain our high standards & reputation.

At times, this can be a physically demanding role, therefore applicants should have a good level of physical fitness and be comfortable with heavy lifting. Funeral industry experience is beneficial, but not essential - as training will be provided on site by our highly experienced & passionate team.

Job Types:
Part-time, Zero hours contract

Part-time hours: 0-15 per week

£13.27 per hour
