A vacancy has arisen for the role of Forensic Collision Investigator, (Police Staff) within our Operational Support Department.


The Role:


To attend all fatal and serious injury road traffic collision scenes, or scenes of crime to gather the available evidence in accordance with ISO 17020 standards.

Subsequent analysis of that evidence is undertaken scientifically and impartially, findings from which are documented in the form of a detailed technical report.


The role requires regular attendance at both criminal and coronial courts to impartially present findings as a recognised expert witness.

The primary function of the Forensic Collision Investigator is independent of the investigation team and is solely responsible for assisting the court.

Eligibility to apply:


  • Must have proven current or recent experience as a qualified Police Forensic Collision Investigator.
  • Must have been deemed competent to perform the FCI role without supervision.
  • Must hold a CertHE qualification in Forensic Collision Investigation.
  • Must possess a current driving licence for cars and if not already qualified, be capable of undertaking and successfully completing a standard police driver training course.
  • Must be willing to submit information for vetting processes.
