The school provides teaching, support and intervention for primary-aged pupils who aren't able to access the curriculum in mainstream schools.

Due to the smaller class sizes and higher number of staff per pupil, the school is able to offer much more targeted provision for its pupils, who all are statemented with individual EHCPs and IEPs.

The role of Teaching Assistant is vital in ensuring pupils are receiving the support they need
- therefore, we are looking for professionals who have a real passion for supporting pupils with learning and behavioural needs.

A strong personality is what matters most If you have the ability to build strong relationships and rapport with pupils, you will thrive in this role.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant and with Special Educational Needs is advantageous, however, if you feel you have the right personality, we would love to hear from you.

The best personalities will be those who can listen, show patience and empathy, and respond to pupils emotional needs.

You will be supporting them academically and in their wellbeing, so the ability to be adaptable and resilient will also put you in good stead.

SEMH Teaching Assistant duties:

  • Assist the class teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
  • Provide oneonone support to students who may need additional help
  • Monitor student behaviour and respond appropriately to challenging behaviour
  • Offer emotional and wellbeing support for pupils who indicate stress
  • Assist in implementing support as per individual pupils' Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs)

Experience required of SEMH Teaching Assistants:

  • Experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications will be advantageous
  • The ability to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning
  • A strong personality and the ability to build and maintain relationships with pupils over time
  • Experience working with behaviour that challenges
  • Experience/the drive to support pupils who come from difficult backgrounds, including those in care.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and making a positive impact on students' lives.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the lead teacher and helping students succeed academically and socially.

We offer competitive pay, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment.
