Description
Specialist Support Worker - Weston, Bath

The Belay Foundation places Specialist Support Workers in the homes of families whose children have previously been in local authority care.

A fantastic opportunity is available to support the care of a 8-year-old girl. This role would initially be for an afternoon after school with additional hours in the school holidays. This would ideally be for a full day per week out of term time.

Violet* is 8 and loves animals, particularly dogs, as well as seeking out insects in the park. Violet has a great sense of humour and enjoys meeting new people, chatting away once she feels comfortable.

Sensory activities such as being active and playing with playdough really help Violet and she also enjoys creative activities at home.

Violet is great at imaginary play and loves creating games about vets and hospitals. Violet was adopted from care and finds some aspects of life really difficult.

Her mum would like someone to come into their home on a regular basis and build a trusted relationship with Violet to allow her some time to work and rest.

You'll have some experience of looking after children and be ready to learn about attachment and trauma. You'll be able to fit in with the family and work with Violet's Mum to use strategies that work.

To support you The Belay Foundation will offer training in attachment and trauma, safeguarding, professional boundaries, regulating techniques as well as other any other preparation that will help you in the role.

You will also receive ongoing support, peer supervision and clinical supervision.

This is a great opportunity to develop your practice supporting children with trauma.
