JOB SUMMARY:


To be responsible for the vision, strategic planning, leadership, operational management and delivery of the bereavement, medical examiner and mortuary services across the Trust.


Develop effective communication systems and work with all staff groups to develop best practice within bereavement care, mortuary service and the Medical Examiner service.

To lead on and contribute as necessary to all trust policies relating to care after death, to ensure accuracy with all necessary stakeholders, to participate in there reviews as appropriate, this includes the introduction of new policies which provide further clarity on correct processes in line with HTA guidelines


Engage in local and national policy formulation about how the bereavement, mortuary and medical examiner services can be developed, supporting the governing objectives of the trust, world class care values and benchmarking with other similar services.


To be responsible for the strategic planning, leadership, operational management and delivery of the bereavement, medical examiner and mortuary services across the Trust.


Continue to embed the Medical Examiner service across the trust in accordance with National guidelines issued by NHSE and Royal College of Pathologists and in liaison with trust medical directors and the lead Medical Examiner.


The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and the bereaved related to the bereavement, medical examiner and mortuary services.


To be responsible for all aspects of after death care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct interventions with staff.
