Are you an experienced Strategic Buyer looking to expand your career by working with a global leader in their industry?

Our client, based in Littlehampton, is looking for a self-motivated and proactive Strategic Buying with a proven track record. You will have previously worked within a manufacturing environment.

You will have a business or engineering degree ideally with CIPS or equivalent qualification.

This is a full-time position paying up to £55,000 per annum with 12.5% annual bonus. 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, with additional days for long service.

This role is primarily office based with the option to work from home one day per week.

It is also essential that you have experience with the following:

  • Knowledge or purchasing procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of inventory and replenishment systems
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Understanding of Lean tools and techniques
  • Understanding of Contract Law
  • Working knowledge of Interco terms
  • Ability to travel to meet business needs.

The main duties of Strategic Buyer:

  • Develop and implement plans to achieve continuous improvement of the Strategy and Filtration Group related to the division.
  • Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to meet the current and future needs of the business
  • Identify areas of risk in the supply chain, effectively prioritise, develop and implement plans to mitigate such risks
  • Reporting of KPI's, analysis and development of improvement plans
  • Develop our supplier relationships and ensure >80% of the location spend is covered by Strategic Procurement Agreements which are managed and controlled in line with EBI requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance by way of recognising both positive and negative achievements and communicate effectively to promote the pursuit of excellence and best practice both internally and externally
  • Continuously benchmark suppliers, analyse pricing trends and utilise cost models to defend against price increases, achieve price decreases and best total cost of ownership solutions
  • Effective and timely project management and coordination of Supply Chain activities
Key Accountabilities

  • Regularly review KPI's to identify areas for development to improve the performance of the Supply Chain function
  • Promote the use of PH connect with suppliers to improve visibility of key performance indicators
  • Monitor and report Supplier Quality, Delivery and Cost performance to create and implement improvement plans across the Division
  • Monitor and report Purchase Price Index (PPI) to create and implement improvement plans across the Division
  • Continuously develop Deflation plans to achieve cost reductions of 5% across the Division
  • Maximise the payment terms with suppliers to improve WADPO for the Division
  • Monitor and analyse inventory data to develop supplier strategies for inventory reduction
  • Monitor and analyse freight data to develop supplier strategies to reduce freight cost, reduce lead times and improve customer service
  • Coordinate Supply Chain activities for New Product Development
