Risk and Governance

How will your role contribute at NewDay?

As part of the Enterprise Risk Business Partnering team within the second line of defence, you will provide risk input on matters relating to business strategy, new products, change initiatives, risk committees papers, risk registers and incidents as required.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Risk Business Partnering, you will support the Risk Business Partners in the review and challenge of the business risks and controls.

You will help to ensure risks are managed effectively at business unit level and holistically for NewDay, providing direction and challenge to ensure regulatory compliance, good customer outcomes and delivery of NewDay's Manifesto and Values.

The role holder will be required to work collaboratively with the Enterprise Risk Business Partners, a wide range of business teams as well as the Risk Framework and Risk Assurance managers, to ensure that the risk management frameworks are working effectively.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

Support functions with the management of their risk register, including the identification of risk, the design of controls, and the assessment of risk in light of how well controls are operating.

Guide them through the risk acceptance and risk mitigation processes when necessary.

Educate and coach business areas on core risk methodologies and governance requirements as well as use of the Risk Management system, as appropriate to their roles and circumstances.

Understand and encourage business engagement with other risk specialisms within NewDay, including Data Governance, Information Security and Supplier Management, as well as engagement with the Regulatory and Conduct agendas.

Understand the change agenda, representing second line on project governance forums as well as specific projects, providing challenge on the impact for the risk and control environment.

Represent the Business Partners at cross-functional forums and meetings, reflecting key insights and activities requiring attention back to the team.

Undertake risk-related investigations in conjunction with the Business Partners.

Support the broader Enterprise Risk agenda, engaging and challenging business contacts as appropriate on current areas of focus. Includes good risk and data governance practices, plus ensuring products and services deliver good customer outcomes.

Your Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL

Experience within a 1st or 2nd line risk team in the financial services industry
Solid understanding of core risk management methodologies, including Risk Governance, Risk Appetite, and Risk Processes and Methodologies
Proven ability to identify and assess risks and control gaps and then formulate a plan to address them
Proven ability to work in partnership with others, supporting their delivery of risk and control objectives
Experience in a role involving the analysis of information received and the translation of it into a form that can be understood by a nontechnical audience
Experience in a role requiring independent and autonomous work

DESIRABLE

Specialist knowledge of one or more of the key risk types
Credit, Conduct, Financial or Operational
Experience of working in environment where agile digital development methodologies are employed
Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
