This opening assignment is for 3-4 months

Hybrid working considered. Will need to be able to attend the office as and when required so will need to live locally
A Specialist Support Officer is required to work in the busy Public Health and Housing Options Service.

To be involved with the full range of work associated with the Community Team and with a particular focus on the Homes for Ukraine project.

The work of the Community team involves private sector housing, environmental protection, anti-social behaviour and community safety, grants and private water supplies.

The Homes for Ukraine project involves dealing with new guests and hosts, processing payments and grants. This role is for 33 hours per week, 5 days per week.


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for core business and technical support to frontline teams.
  • Liaise with officers in dealing with customers and other agencies, allocate and triage service requests and provide the full range of other business support as required.
  • Be a key point of contact for the above function areas.
  • Deal with sometimes challenging or difficult situations.
  • Manage data/information and support business processes.

Qualifications:


  • Hold (or be working towards) relevant qualifications e.g. Level 3 NVQ in Business Admin/Customer Services.

Experience:


  • Recent customer services experience in a similar role along with proven business support skills, ideally in a statutory or regulatory environment.
  • Working knowledge of IDOX Uniform, Integrator and Orchard Software is desirable (though training can be provided).
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to prioritise effectively and be able to manage data/information and support business processes with attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent skills and knowledge in Microsoft.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Confidence to deal with sometimes challenging or difficult situations.
  • Committed to delivering excellent services and maintaining effective relationships with other officers, members and other key stakeholders/partners.
  • Ability to work effectively with other authorities and agencies.
  • Full driving licence and own transport desirable.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
Full Driving licence, access to a vehicle or access to means of mobility support desirable.
