Main Purpose of Job


Responsibility for the ISSOW and acting as the Area Authority for all aspects of Control of Work within SBDR and POP plant areas, delivering and ensuring maximum plant HSE performance to agreed targets and KPI's.

Minimising Downtime, ensuring the safe and efficient management of all maintenance activity, carrying out gas testing and safe management of high-risk activities.

Additionally supporting the Operational aspects of Turnaround planning and project construction work.


Responsible for the SBDR Competency Management System, managing Work Area Training Plans (WATP), assessing Operators as required against the key aspects of the WATPs and other mandatory Training requirements eg AGT, Boiler Management, BA, Emergency Response.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Operational Activities

  • Leading the day team activities to ensure optimum day to day Control of work is managed safely and efficiently.
  • Take an active role in day to day plant operations, to help SBDR achieve it's key targets
  • Ensure the operations teams are monitoring and controlling all aspects of the SBDR performance
  • Provide Training and development of the Shift Teams in all aspect of Control of Work.
  • Manage the Competency Matrix for Mandatory Training.
  • Assess Operators against the criteria within the Work Area Training Plans (WATPs).
  • Provide practical and hands on assistance to Senior Operator and Operators as required to ensure maintenance tasks are carried out to the required standard for both safety and efficiency.
  • Attend the maintenance planning meeting.
  • Attend project construction Meetings.
  • Provide input into the Daily Operating Instructions (DOI's) for maintenance preparation work/isolations.
  • Attend Turnaround (TAR) planning meetings and provide input to the scope optimisation and execution process.
  • Liaise with the Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager to review performance of operators.
  • Ensure all maintenance issues are raised by the team through the Ultimo system and actioned accordingly.
  • Ensure all preventative Maintenance is carried out on plant equipment according to the predefined schedule
  • Set the standards for all aspects of Control of Work performance. Inclusive of the SIRPE (Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant and Equipment) Punch listing, leak testing and RCA investigations into repeat maintenance failures.
  • Ensure departmental housekeeping is of a high standard and audit maintenance tasks to ensure work areas are left as found after maintenance activity.
  • Takes initiative and act with confidence under own direction.
  • Build strong and positive working relationships with the other Team Leaders.
  • Provide leadership and clear direction to shift teams at all times.
  • Actively promote a teamworking environment and always lead by example.
  • Deputise for TL or SPM absence if necessary

Health and Safety

  • Ensure a thorough knowledge of your Health & Safety responsibilities and the Argent Energy ISSOW.
  • Always wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care.
  • Always strive to work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately.
  • Ensure all staff and visitors operates in compliance with Safety regulations
  • Full responsibility for the safety of team members
  • Actively participate in addressing Safety, Health and Environmental issues affecting the production areas, ensuring the relevant S, H&E checks are carried out.
  • Work with the SHE team to identify areas for improvement, and follow up with any necessary actions.

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

  • SVQ A1 Assessor Qualification
  • Relevant H&S qualification i.e NEBOSH, managing safely
  • Authorised Gas Tester (AGT)
  • HNC (Chem Eng) or equivalent

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Previous Experience managing the Safe System of Work within a large scale petrochemical complex.
  • Previous Experience of contractor management.
  • Previous Experience as a Training Competency Assessor.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Previous experience with CMMS systems such as SAP/ID Hammer/Ultimo
  • Previous experience within a Maintenance Planning environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legisla
