    Assistant Risk Manager Job Opportunity

    We are seeking an Assistant Risk Manager to join our team at ChandlerKBS in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.

    Job Description:

    As an Assistant Risk Manager, you will support the setup of processes and protocols for risk management, assist in establishing controls and contingency plans, and liaise with design teams, contractors, and client representatives as risk owners.

    You will be responsible for maintaining detailed risk registers or managing risk systems based on project scale and complexity, producing risk reports, and providing risk advice. You will also collaborate to identify, manage, and allocate risks at project and program levels, track risk management activities, and ensure compliance with industry and client standards.

    In addition, you will assist in auditing and reviewing client processes and procedures, and perform duties in accordance with statutory, health, safety, and environmental requirements and management systems.

    Key Attributes:

    • Ability to work independently.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Positive and engaging attitude towards challenging situations.
    • Willingness to work within a client organization if required.
    • Experience in the construction industry.
    • Technical knowledge of highways/civil engineering.
    • Background in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
    • Knowledge of NEC Contracts.
    • Experience leading teams and managing deliverables.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Degree in construction, cost management, engineering, or RICS-accredited field.
    • Working towards MRICS or equivalent qualification.
    • Experience maintaining risk registers and evaluating risks/opportunities.
    • Support and lead risk and value workshops.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Knowledge of risk management tools and software.
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
