We are looking to recruit a
Visitor Experience Assistant to join our team based at our
London site.

You will join us on a
part time, permanent basis working 12 hours per week (weekends only) and in return, you will receive a
competitive salary of
£7,495.52 per annum.



The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future - using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our Vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story - the people who shape it and its place in our lives.


Purpose of the Visitor Experience Assistant role is to:

Delivery of an exceptional visitor experience, providing consistently high standards of customer care whilst actively supporting the strategic priorities of the Museum, especially in relation to interpreting the story of the RAF and increasing income generation.


Key responsibilities of ourVisitor Experience Assistant include:

  • Providing high standards of pro-active and re-active customer care, providing a warm welcome to all our visitors
  • Enriching the visitor experience by proactively sharing your knowledge of the Museum and its collection and stories, with our visitors
  • Regularly monitor the condition and cleanliness of front of house facilities, taking corrective action and/or reporting issues, as appropriate
  • Supporting in the management of volunteers working on front of house activities
  • Supporting commercial and fundraising activities, including undertaking collections
  • Understanding the Museum's commercial activities, products and offers, and promote these to our visitors

What we are looking for in our Visitor Experience Assistant:

  • Willingness and ability to hold a First Aid qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in customerfocused environment
  • A good level of general education
  • Good level of computer literacy and IT skills including Microsoft Office software
  • Up to date First Aid qualification
