This is an exciting opportunity to be working in a community learning disability service; working with adults with a learning disability in their own homes- covering Southend, Castlepoint and Rochford, Basildon and Brentwood and Thurrock. The post holders base will be at Pride House in Laindon but will also be required to attend Trust bases.
The post holder will be working under the guidance of qualified Speech and Language Therapists and will be supporting the delivering of care planning with the responsibility of producing and imbedding communication resources to the patients, families and carers.
The team comprises of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Learning Disability Nurses, Psychologists and Behaviour Therapists as well as Psychiatry.
The post holder will need to hold a valid drivers licence and have access to a car as the role requires visits to patients in their home.
- Friday 9am 5pm.
The role of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Assistant Practitioner is to support the, Speech and Language Therapists undertake delegated aspects of their role for which they will have been trained and deemed competent always continues to act under the guidance of a registered practitioner.
The SLT Assistant Practitioner does not require daily supervision and should be able to take responsibility for their work within pathways of care and that of others within a broad framework laid down by and as directed by the supervisor of practice.

Enable individuals to sustain and improve their overall health and wellbeing.
Identify, act and minimise risk to patients and clients.
