Job Purpose


The Technical Supervisor will support the Operations team in efficiently executing critical laboratory research, development, and manufacturing tasks to ensure high-quality, reproducible, high-throughput, and safe chemical manufacturing and data acquisition.

The Technical Supervisors main task is to oversee and provide technical guidance to the Production Chemists. While working within the laboratory the Technical Supervisor must be observant of safety standards and operating procedures.


As an early stage start-up employee, the Technical Supervisor will be exposed to and learn to operate a breadth of cutting edge technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Be a contributing member of the Operations team
  • Oversee setup of automated chemical reactions (Curie, Franklin, Lovelace platforms)
  • Work with the Head of Laboratory Operations to establish best practices and ensure quality is maintained (including drafting of SOPs).
  • Set standard of Operations housekeeping (glassware, working areas)
  • Takeon growing responsibilities during the transformation of the company from an R&Dstage organization to an operational powerhouse
  • Communicate with R&D chemists to assimilate specific knowledge and transfer to team
  • Training of new and existing staff on good practices in organic synthesis
  • Contribute to productivity of operations
  • Tech transfer of new technology from hardware and software teams
  • Collaborate with engineering and software teams to specify technology requirements
  • Take the initiative to suggest improvements to working practices
  • Accurate and timely documentation of completed tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Either a strong operational background in a technical discipline OR a PhD in organic synthesis or equivalent (2+ years) industry experience, ideally in medchem or CRO is desirable
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good timekeeping
  • Safetyconscious
  • Enthusiasm to adopt new approaches and concepts and to work within a laboratory environment.
  • Problemsolving skills and ability to follow procedures.
  • Oral and written communication skills (English fluency).
  • Any coding experience (Python preferable) would be desirable.
