Job purpose

To have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the setting, creating a sustainable, safe and nurturing environment where the children and staff can creatively develop, learn and flourish at their own pace.


Responsibilities

Care and Provision

  • Deliver high quality standards of care, creating a rich environment with stimulating experiences for both children and staff.
  • Create a safe and judgement free environment.
  • Communicate openly and positively with children, colleagues, and parents at every opportunity.
  • Communicate with both children and team in an open, respectful, empowering and nurturing manner.
  • Ensure equal opportunities for all children and staff at all times.
  • Consistently demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive and personal information about children and their families.
  • Ensure support for children and staff with additional needs and their families in collaboration with the local Referral Scheme Coordinator (if relevant)
  • Ensure sufficient provision and a variety of resources both indoors and outdoors to promote a holistic approach to growth and learning.
  • Organise and implement an effective Key Worker approach.
  • Create effective timetables and empower team to adhere to them.
  • Oversee the completion of the children's profile books to a high standard.
  • Oversee the completion of the children's assessment documents to a high standard.
  • Represent the company in a professional, friendly, and proactive way.
  • Communicate using the Welsh language as much as practically possible during your working day.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties required to meet the needs of the children.

Team

  • Provide the daytoday line management of team.
  • Support, mentor and develop the team utilising our inhouse performance management structures and procedures.
  • Lead your team through positive action and modelling professional behaviours to inspire and motivate.
  • Participate in training that develops professional and personal growth in order to support others growth.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties required to meet the needs of the team.

Overall Service

  • Ensure the effective day to day running of the childcare setting.
  • Ensure that setting complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote and adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records for the children and staff in accordance with GDPR.
  • Create and maintain up to date registers.
  • Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents, the school and other key stakeholders.
  • Design, create, develop and deliver a clear, comprehensive and inspiring development plan for the service.
  • Plan for and maintain budget.
  • Monitor and maintain resource stock levels
  • Communicate with Flourish partners when necessary.
  • Maintain the services social media platforms.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties required to meet the needs of the business.
Knowledge / skills / experience
Essential

  • NVQ level 5 qualification or equivalent in Childcare.
  • Experience of successfully line managing a team.
  • Experience of leading a team through change.
  • Experience of the daytoday running of a childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of the Foundation Phase.
  • Ability to monitor budgets and expenditure.
  • Experience of working with children under five in a formal setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to speak and write Welsh to a good level.
  • Willingness to undertake staff development and training.
  • Knowledge of requirements of the Children Act.
  • Knowledge of CIW requirements.
Desirable

  • Knowledge of basic employment law.
  • Playwork qualification.
  • Qualified in Child Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene.
  • Knowledge of the New Curriculum for Wales.
  • Knowledge of the Curiosity Approach.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed approaches and emotional intelligence.
  • Experience of maintaining social media platforms.
  • Experience of working in partnership with primary schools.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 21.25 per week


Salary:
£11.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
