We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Corporate Governance to join our team.

They will assist the Associate Director of Corporate Governance and Director of Corporate Governance in providing comprehensive and high level corporate governance support to the Board and Board committees.

Applicants should have specialist knowledge and extensive experience of advising on all aspect of corporate governance. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are paramount.

The majority of the role is deadline driven and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate exemplary planning and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job


The Head of Corporate Governance supports, and deputises for, the Associate Director of Corporate Governance in providing comprehensive and high level support to the Board and Board committees.

They will provide corporate governance advice to clinical and corporate teams, leading on the production of Registers of Interest, Hospitality and Sponsorship.

The post holder will provide high level advice to colleagues within the Trust about the creation, ratification, promulgation and review of all Trust policies and Trust-wide procedures, ensuring that there is an effective framework and processes in place in respect to policy management.

They will also assist the Associate Director of Corporate Governance with the management of general legal queries, liaising with the Trust's appointed lawyers where necessary.

Working for our organisation


The Corporate Governance team is a relatively small team committed to providing comprehensive and high level advice in respect to the corporate governance agenda.

The post holder will work closely with Executive and Non Executive Directors, as well as senior managers within corporate and clinical teams.

Whilst primarily based in Trust Headquarters at the City Hospital campus, the post holder is expected to work across the different campuses when necessary.

The team works flexibly, with a mixture of on-site and home working.

To provide comprehensive and high level support to the Board and Board committees.

To assist the Associate Director of Corporate Governance in providing highly complex advice, support and training to corporate and clinical departments in respect of standards of business conduct and corporate governance

To support Associate Director of Corporate Governance with general legal queries relating to clinical and non clinical issues, liaising with the Trust's appointed lawyers when necessary

To provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues within the Trust in respect to the creation, ratification, promulgation and review of all Trust policies and Trust-wide procedures, liaising with authors and Executive Directors to ensure that policies comply with the Trust's agreed requirements

To be responsible for the line management of the staff and functions that sit within the Corporate Governance department, as follows:

  • Educated to Masters Level in relevant field or significant relevant experience
  • Extensive specialist knoweldge and expertise of corporate governance and Board and Board Committees
  • Exemplary planning and organisational skills, delivering to tight deadlines and producing work of high quality and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience of communicating highly complex and confidential ifnormation

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
