As Rail Contract Assistant in the Rail Contract Delivery and Performance Team, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing the admin and coordination of the team's reporting requirements and to provide support to the business' performance evaluation process.

This is the process which measures the performance of our business under our contract with the Department for Transport.

Through identifying, collating and presenting compelling evidence and reporting from across the business, you will be supporting the team and giving TPE the best chance of achieving maximum performance-based scores over the term of the contract.

This activity is of strategic importance to the company, its owning group and shareholders.

Whilst this is an admin focused role, it is an exciting opportunity to interact with every department across the business, as you will need to understand what different teams are doing, how they are managing any risks to our delivery and what successes they may have achieved.

You will assist in ensuring that any submitted reporting and evidence is complete, of the highest quality, and is issued in a timely manner for each of our contracted Scorecard areas, while being properly stored and documented in a system accessed by both TPE and Rail North Partnership (our contract client body).

You will work alongside other members of the team by supporting in the refining and streamlining of our processes throughout the lifetime of the contract and through any comparable process in future contracts.

You will be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels and across all departments in a pressured environment.

You will also be keen to understand how the business and the railway operates and will possess excellent writing and analytical skills that will enable you to translate the organisation's activities into high quality documentation.

TPE's Rail Contract Delivery and Performance team is a small but very busy organisation.

In addition to the above primary responsibilities, you will also support the team in other activity that supports contract management and the relationship with Rail North Partnership, including documentation for review meetings with RNP, Executive and Board papers, correspondence management, contract system management and providing coordination support to specific projects as they arise.

You should be positive in your approach, well organised and adaptable to manage your own workload in a busy and changing environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Tenacity, strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain successful networks and meaningful relationships, and using those to influence outcomes
