Recycling Operative - Lee Mill, United Kingdom - Devon Contract Waste

DCW is a family-run business that's passionate about saving the world one bin at a time.

They're currently looking for a recycling operative to join their fast-growing team.

The employee will be responsible for the control of waste and recycling in the DCW waste compound areas.

This role will involve working at one principal site at Lee Mill Industrial Estate, but you will also be required to periodically help manage waste processes at several other neighbouring 'same client' sites throughout the week.

You will need to be:

• Punctual
• Reliable
• Physically fit
• Approachable
• Driving licence is desirable but not essential
• Forklift experience is desirable but not essential

Duties include:

• Liaising with DCW Operations Supervisor and Waste and Resources Manager
• Undertaking further waste segregation once bins received at the waste area
• Unloading the contents of wheeled bins into the correct waste container
• Use of mechanised compactor and can crusher if available
• Complete a daily report of compactor status and report any faults as soon as possible
• Clearing loose material (of suitable manual handling size) usually placed near to skips
• Items which are too large to handle without mechanical assistance must be cleared using a combination of DCW and site staff or use of a forklift truck when and where available
• Monitor contamination of wheeled ins and skips and report back to managers as necessary
• Ensuring hazardous waste is segregated correctly and composing a list of products weekly for collection by DCW subcontractor
• Monitor and compose a list of all WEEE waste collected periodically
• Monitor bins and skips for new items of stock set aside for further investigation if found
• Provide banksman supervision for all DCW vehicles arriving on site during working hours

PPE and DCW uniform will be provided. Full training will be given.
