Job Scope
We are looking for an Experienced Operations Clerk to join our team.

This position will offer an opportunity to increase your experience and progress your career within the freight industry.

A minimum of 3 years' experience within the freight forwarding/operational industry is essential.


This role is office based and would require an initial focus on handling of road freight shipments from end to end.

You will also be involved in commercial activities such as quoting and following up with clients. The expectation will be to always provide a personal and professional service. This will include import, export, domestic and intra-european forwarding.

Air & Sea forwarding experience would also be an advantage but not essential.


Main Responsibilities

  • Obtain quotes from Partners and provide quotes to customers
  • End to End operation of shipments from receipt of order to loading, customs delivery and processing POD


  • Liaising with suppliers/customers

  • File leader on key accounts
  • Generate Invoices for customers
  • Processing Orders from customers, ensuring all correct paperwork is present
  • Customs requests from our in house team as well as third parties
  • Ensuring records in relation to deliveries and customs are kept up to date
  • Support in providing an excellent and safe working environment.
  • Keeping all data accurate and compliant in line with company guidelines.

In addition, the post holder will be expected to:

  • Undertake reasonable requests from managers in line with the range and scope of the post.
  • Support other JPGL sites when required.
  • Comply with onsite health & safety regulations

  • Strong time management techniques to balance priorities effectively is essential.
  • Desire to develop within the role to learn all aspects of customs and freight forwarding

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 Years Freight Forwarding Experience in Road Freight essential.
  • Knowledge of Import and or Export procedures.
  • Understanding of custom clearance
  • The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure & react quickly to customer requirements
  • Proven work record of delivering high customer service
  • Previously worked to tight deadlines

The Freight Forwarding Supervisor leads a small team of forwarders manging air, sea & road customers.



Freight Forwarding Supervisor - Position Overview

  • Lead the forwarding team to drive revenue and profit growth across air, ocean and road products (domestic, Channel islands & International) including quotations
  • Work with the Brokerage team to manage & grow the customs products with existing and new customer base
  • Identify opportunities to grow cargo insurance sales
  • Ensure that the forwarding team performs at the highest level to deliver excellent service to customers internal and external ensuring that service level agreements are met
  • Drive the forwarding team to deliver excellent customer service
  • Take ownership of individual shipments from collection through to delivery (& billing), providing hands on support for daily operational activities
  • Working with Industrial Engineering, identify opportunities to improve operational systems, processes and policies and effectively implement improvements
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external service providers
  • Drive initiatives in the forwarding team that contribute to longterm operational excellence.
  • Develop systemic KPIs to drive improvements across the forwarding business
  • Coach, train and mentor the forwarding team
  • Relentless focus on reprocurement and cost improvement (outbound freight working with third party services such as airlines, ocean carriers, consolidators, other transport providers and packing services).
  • Assist in identifying forwarding agent partnerships across the world to support growth in forwarding products
  • Develop and support key product initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of the forwarding budget in coordination with the General Manager.
  • Instill an excellent and safe working environment.

Freight Forwarding Supervisor - Position Requirements

  • 10 years' experience in a freight forwarding environment (across air, sea, road & customs)
  • Previous experience managing people
  • Highly motivated leader who is ade
