An exciting opportunity to join Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust as Finance Business Partner on a fixed term/secondment basis to cover a period of maternity leave, (6-9 months) working intrinsically as part of the MEDicine Group management team, providing strategic financial support and business advice in the management and development of clinical services for our children and young people.


This is a great time to join the Trust as we look to implement our recently refreshed clinical and supporting strategies to guide us forward into future years of partnership working and taking the lead in developing services and care for children, young people and their families.

More than ever we are looking for closer working with clinical teams as the Trust rolls out its Value Improvement Programme with a view of how, jointly, we can look to maximise the quality and value of the services we provide.


We are looking for a dynamic individual who can make a difference to work alongside our dedicated Finance team, contributing and helping shape the department's training and development agenda and supporting the senior management team in building an inclusive and diverse workplace, as well as supporting the Trust in achieving our strategic aims.


  • Advising the Care Group on the implications of financial strategy & policy. Proactively advising, influencing and educating on all business and financial management issues within the context of delivering financial objectives.
  • Lead on the annual financial planning process for the Care Group within the overall Trust financial framework. Provision of comprehensive financial support to develop, implement and monitor Care Group business plans.
  • Responsible for robust monthly reporting of Care Group financial position and production of forecast year end performance. Advising Care Group management team of necessary actions to achieve the financial plan.
  • Proactive engage with Care Group management team to identify efficiency/productivity opportunities and to develop robust plans to achieve the target set.
  • Drive the implementation of service line reporting/management and patient level costing within the Care Group. Actively engage clinicians and managers in the process from implementation through to its integration within mainstream financial reporting.


Sheffield Children's is one of three independent, specialist paediatric hospitals in the country, providing dedicated healthcare for children and young people across community, mental health and acute specialist settings.
