Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of the UK's leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers.

The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw materialto the finished product in one location.

Operating from a ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one supplierswithin the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.

Main Purpose of the Role


Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be part of a team dedicated to ensuring the quality of IFA's product meets the requirements of our customers.

You will be essential to the maintenance of IFA quality systems and approvals as well as being a drivingforce for improvement throughout the business using a variety of quality tools and techniques such as auditing, practical problem solving and statistical process control.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assisting in the continual assessment of the Quality Management System.
  • Actively aspiring to promote a culture of quality throughout the business.
  • Managing and improving the Non-Conformance register, including coordinating improvement meetings and meeting the business KPI objectives.
  • Facilitating the control and calibration of all pyrometry equipment as well as ordering consumables.
  • Reviewing and approving furnace surveys/instrumentation/system accuracy tests.
  • Reviewing and updating the approved supplier list and auditing external subcontractors and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Assisting in maintaining NADCAP and customer accreditations.
  • Performing internal audits as well as quality spot checks of inprogress work.
  • Statistical analysis of external providers delivery and quality data.
  • Ordering specifications when requested and authorised.
  • Monthly analysis of trends for external providers, pyrometry, PPM's.
  • Instigating and participating in team root cause analysis using quality tools such as 3C's, 5Why's and 8D's.
  • Assisting in issuing a monthly quality assurance performance monitoring report.

Any other duties as may reasonably be required:

  • Updating monthly performance data on all notice boards for KPI's.
  • Deputising for the Quality Manager when required.
  • Travelling to suppliers for auditing purposes.
Skills and Experience


Essential:

  • Experience of quality systems (ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP).
  • Good understanding of Quality procedures.
  • Questioning and analytical work attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • Competent working knowledge of Excel, Word and other windowsbased data systems.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Flexible and proactive approach.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of customer quality standards, including those of Rolls Royce etc.
  • Knowledge of Pyrometry and AMS2750.
  • Knowledge of mechanical / metallurgical testing and laboratory quality.
  • Certificate in and/or working knowledge of auditing.
