GBR Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established progressive Automotive manufacturing client recruiting for an experienced Material Planner from a manufacturing background, ideally in complex high capital products suchas Automotive, Rail, Aerospace, HGV's, Buses, Defence Vehicles, Aircraft Support Vehicles, Agricultural Tractors / Combines or similar manufacturing processes.


This is a key role ensuring all raw materials & ingredients are available to meet customer demand & production schedules.


You will engage effectively with the purchasing team, stores & production ensuring the required materials (volume / correct specification) are available in order to complete OTIF the vehicles for the end using customers.


This position would suit a Materials Controller, Materials Coordinator, Materials Planner, Stock Controller or similar from within a short shelf life / JIT food manufacturing environment.


Duties to include:


  • Material planning & control using the companies MRP system.
  • Effectively liaising with stores / inventory to ensure all materials are available to feed the production line to complete orders OTIF
  • Ensuring all materials / supplied products meet the specifications
  • Building a strong robust working partnership with all departments
  • Scheduling of materials in line with the order well & in line with production & customer demand requirements.
  • Manage all potential materials shortages & excessive stock issues.
  • Managing stock levels to meet works orders and adjusting them when necessary to meet new orders / NPI.
  • Manage & Identify problematic materials supply
  • Assess and review production requirements accurately with the SMT
  • Available stock / materials variances to be reported and resolved.
  • Attending daily production meetings to discuss any material supply issues / needs
  • Scheduling of all materials within set time frames for production runs
  • Attend NPD / NPI meetings and discuss material needs

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:


  • Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, Plant or similar products background
  • Material planning, material control & ordering experience
  • Strong MS Excel skills (formulas, VLookup, Tables etc.)
  • A strong understanding of production processes & procedures
  • Ability to work at pace & to multitask effectively
