  • PURPOSE OF JOB

I am a young female who lives with my parents and family pets (dogs and a cat) in what can occasionally be a busy household.

I require a team of PAs to support me to live independently within the family home and surrounding community.

Following a horse-riding accident in 2006, I live with complex medical problems including constant pain, allodynia (hypersensitivity to touch), and seizures, and I use a wheelchair.

As my support worker you would be expected to fit into a few roles; these may vary from hour to hour and day to day dependent on my health.

This includes support with personal care, encouragement and support to access existing social activities and appointments, hobbies and interests, and also support to source and attend new interests.

I am at currently studying towards my BSc Mathematics at the Open University, therefore there will be occasions when I will need support to attend tutorials in Leeds on some weekends.

I also work and may need support to attend my workplace.

I require a PA who can provide the assistance I require under my direction and, when I am unwell, be able to use initiative as to the support required.

My personal assistant must be friendly, reliable, and easy-going with a positive 'can do' attitude. My PA must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. They do not have to be strong to do this, technique is as important as physical strength.

SUPERVISION
You will be directed by and accountable to me at all times.

You will always ask what is required and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out.
