Karro is a leading producer of bacon, gammon, fresh pork, fresh and frozen sausages, ham and cooked meats. We supply our high quality meat products to retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers across the UK.
Karro process circa 50,000 pigs each week for delivery to the UK's major supermarkets and wholesale food supplier markets, all with full supply chain visibility.
Karro Food Group headquarters' are located in Malton, North Yorkshire, and employ circa 4,000 people across our national food production locations.
Job Purpose
4 on 4 off (5:30am -5:30pm) - Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the aim of this role is to maintain and repair all equipment in the relevant department.
Each department has strict hygiene and safety rules in order to avoid contamination, so a crucial part of this role is being awareof and adhering to the restrictions.
Key Accountabilities
- Attend to breakdowns, reactive maintenance to enable continued production
- Use and record PPM's and breakdowns on Pirana maintenance system
- Day to day maintenance of:
- Slicing machines
- Packaging machines
- Retail machines (including labellers, pneumatics, nitrogen equipment, air blasts and steam cookers)
- Strip down the machines for hygiene purposes and rebuild these after cleaning
- Maintain and service temperature control equipment
- Identify opportunities for improvements to the department
- Being the ambassador for the site at all times, behaving in a professional and courteous manner with both internal and external customers
- Undertake other jobs as reasonably requested within the scope of the job to improve the running of the department
Skills and Experience Required
- Electrical or Mechanical engineering background
- Relevant engineering qualifications minimum Engineering NVQ or equivalent
- Ability to work unsupervised (although advice and guidance will be available where required)
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Ability to think on your feet
- Experience of working in the food industry
- Self Motivated
