Assistant Garden Support Worker

32.5 hours per week (Normal work pattern - Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, but must be willing to work weekends in the summer months)

Starting Wage - £10.50 per hour


Enable (Sheffield) is an organisation working with people with learning and physical disabilities, to offer support and encouragement in living, social and practical skills to enable them to enjoy independent lifestyles.

An exciting opportunity of an assistant gardener support worker role has arisen within our well-established team.

You will be working closely with another member of staff supporting adults with learning disabilities within our Garden area of Enable (Sheffield).

We have a small garden centre, which is open to the public, as well as a garden area for our service users.

We are looking for an experienced and/or qualified gardener.

You will need to have knowledge or plants and garden maintenance as well as being reliable, with a passion for helping people, who is conscientious and patient, whilst takes a pride in their work.


The job will entail grass cutting, weed killing, plant tending, new planting schemes, soft and hard landscaping, pressure washing and generally all other outdoor maintenance services associated with grounds and gardens maintenance, as well as tending to customers and plants within our garden centre.

A can-do attitude is essential, with good housekeeping standards, to maintain the overall appearance of the whole site. Experience with learning disabilities would be advantageous but not a necessity.


Qualifications required

  • No formal qualifications needed.
  • Knowledge of plants and garden maintenance essential.
  • Experience with learning disabilities would be advantageous but not a necessity.
