About us


Founded 9 years ago by Josh Dow with just a single lawn mower, JDS Gardening now supports 14 employees to deliver commercial grounds maintenance, gardening, tree surgery, and fencing & landscaping.

In 2024 we plan to relocate to a purpose-built facility and deploy an additional fully equipped road team.


The duties below form the main areas of responsibility; however, these may change over time depending on the needs of the business.


The job

  • Assisting our fencing team, working closely with and learning from our head fencer
  • Learning how to build a variety of fences including: slatted fencing, hit and miss, feather edged, picket, horizontal slatted, ranching, venetian, panel, trellis and concrete styles of fencing.
  • As well as fencing you will also assist in building gates, sleeper beds, garden sheds, decking and gain experience turfing
  • Working with different kinds of timber
  • Working with composite materials
  • Developing landscaping skills
  • Learning how to operate a variety of power tools
  • Learning how to be methodical in your work
  • Help load the vans in the morning
  • Carrying materials and equipment
  • Assisting to prep the site
- digging holes and marking fence run

  • Helping job tidy up
  • Dealing with clients on site
  • Working week Monday to Friday 7am4pm
  • Trial period to decide if you like the job. If it is a rewarding experience, we will back you and put you through college typically being 3 days on the tools 2 days in the classroom

Benefits

Pay
Between £11,000 & £21,000 per year, depending on experience.
