We have an exciting new role for a Payroll & Benefits Adviser to join our HR Department in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Reporting to the HR Director, this role will be work with our payroll bureau and our Finance department.

The role holder has responsibility of ensuring the monthly payroll is accurately uploaded, processed and reports are produced for the Finance department.


You will be responsible for

  • Building and maintaining a good relationship with our external payroll provider
  • Working with our Finance department providing monthly payroll reports from the payroll provider
  • Ensuring payroll and HR records are correctly maintained and updated timeously
  • Updating procedures as required and share any process changes with the HR team
  • Ensuring monthly payroll reports are accurate and signed off appropriately
  • Maintaining standardised documentation for audit compliance to mitigate any potential risks
  • Ensuring statutory payments are correctly documented and processed in accordance with legislation
  • Producing summaries on benefits uptake regularly for Executive Committee review
  • Assisting in the salary review process
  • Administration of the Salary Sacrifice Scheme, Flexible Life Assurance and Cycle to Work scheme
  • Assisting the HR Advisers with holiday accrual, carry forward and prorating calculation and inputting
  • A solid understanding of reward and benefits including managing a payroll system; understanding of tax, pension, statutory procedures, legislation and calculations
  • High level of competence in key reward processes ie salary review, salary sacrifice, flex programmes, salary benchmarking, etc
  • 2 years+ reward/payroll experience ideally with a payroll qualification
  • Excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office package including advanced Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Positive and flexible attitude in delivering to high standard in a busy environment
