Due to continuous growth, we have a new opportunity for the Technical Assessor to join our Technical Team.Technical Assessor - Pre acceptance Chemist - The Role:
To perform pre-acceptance technical assessments aligned with the requirements of WM3 for inbound hazardous waste prior to collection.
Ensure that all wastes prior to collection have a legal and defined route for treatment or transfer.
As part of the national technical department ensure consistency in pre-acceptance approach for wastes collected nationally acting as a central technical resource for all Enva England Specialist waste locations.
Technical Assessor - Pre acceptance Chemist - Key Responsibilities:
- Following WM3 perform assessments on hazardous waste prior to collection, defining correct descriptions, EWC codes, HP codes and transport information required for transport and acceptance.
- Ensure 100% compliance with site Environmental Permits by correct identifying and assessing wastes and comparing to acceptable wastes on a site by site basis.
- Ensure that all wastes prior to collection have a legal and defined route for treatment or transfer.
- Via a network of 3rd parties obtain quotations for the onward treatment or transfer of wastes, providing a full cost for handling the waste together with the technical descriptions to the commercial teams.
- Work in partnership with the Site Based chemists to ensure the acceptance of wastes meets the expectations of preacceptance and where necessary support the nonconformance and rerouting process.
- Maintain records as required to ensure compliance with EMS.
- Ensure all activities and processes are documented within the EMS requirements.
- Support with duty of care visits to 3rd party disposal sites.
- Maintain highest standards of health and safety.
- Auditing/training operations for compliance.
- Be a key member of the technical team, providing/developing key KPI's.
Knowledge, Training, Experience, Technical and Personal Skills:
Required
- Proactive and safety focused approach.
- HNC or chemistry degree.
- Good knowledge of hazardous waste.
- Ability to quickly learn and interpret new methods.
- Hands on and methodical, organised with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive and motivated with flexible and adaptable attitude.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and to plan and manage own agenda.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships within and outside of the department.
- Highly focused on delivering results and objectives with a strong personal commitment to supporting the business in achieving its goals in a changing environment.
- Logical in approach with the ability to analyse data and formulate action plans.
- Good conflict resolution skills based on a 'Can do' attitude.
- Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions should be transparent, open and honest in all dealings.
- Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
