We are looking for an experienced fintech compliance professional to join us as our Head of Compliance and MLRO.

Compliance at Cledara is currently run by our founders, both of whom have extensive compliance experience for fintech companies.

You will be inheriting the compliance function at a company that has built a culture of compliance from day 1 and that understands how being strong in compliance can accelerate growth.

Tasks

This is a critical role for the growth of the company as we continue our rapid growth in the UK and Europe


You will:

  • Be a business leader who can enable the company to successfully navigate risk in a regulated and fast paced environment
  • Be comfortable "getting your hands dirty" and have a bias to action to move things quickly as part of an agile organisation
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of all statute and regulations relevant to a business regulated by the FCA as an E-Money Institution or EMD Agent
  • Subject matter expert and main point of contact for senior management, regulators and industry groups on compliance and risk matters
  • Provide advice to senior management and the business on compliance and risk issues as well as regulatory trends
  • Chair quarterly risk management meetings with senior managers
  • Regular reporting of all risk related items to the board and risk committee
  • Develop, maintain and implement Compliance and Risk policies, procedures, manuals, and programs to reflect best practice with regulatory and industry requirements, and ensure adherence by all employees
  • Perform audits and reassess existing processes to effectively anticipate, manage and reduce risk to the business.
  • Develop the required AML and Financial Crime training for staff
  • Foster an environment of regulatory awareness to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Implement operational efficiencies across customer services, financial operations and compliance operations to reduce cost and improve customer experience

Requirements:


  • Prior experience within the Compliance function of a FCA regulated fintech that sells to SMEs or midmarket companies
  • 5+ years' experience preferred
  • Experience designing or implementing Financial Crime frameworks
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing and reviewing processes and controls to identify weaknesses
  • Indepth technical knowledge and practical experience of FCA requirements and standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and compliance in UK and Europe
  • Commercially minded with demonstrable experience of working with the business to find solutions
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior management and external stakeholders
  • Experience as an MLRO or Deputy MLRO
