Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Buyer to join our dynamic team at Wine and the Wood, a start-up wine e-commerce business based out of Cumbria.
As a Wine Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in curating an exceptional selection of wines, spirits, and associated products to meet the diverse tastes and preferences of our discerning customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Selection
- Source, select, and curate a diverse range of highquality wines that align with the company's brand and customer base.
- Vendor Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with wine suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage vendor contracts to ensure competitive pricing and product availability.
- Market Analysis
- Stay up to date with wine industry trends, market dynamics, and consumer preferences to make informed buying decisions.
- Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels, optimise stock turnover, and ensure the availability of wines and associated products in line with customer demand.
- Quality Control
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure the wines meet our high standards for taste, presentation, and value.
- Pricing Strategy
- Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability and conduct price analysis to maintain our market position.
- Wine Tasting and Evaluation
- Organise and participate in regular wine tastings to assess and select wines for the company's portfolio.
- Marketing Support
- Collaborate with the marketing team to support winerelated promotions, advertising, and marketing campaigns, as well as support on domestic and overseas trips.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all imported and distributed wines comply with relevant regulations, including licensing and labelling requirements.
Qualifications:
- A deep passion for and knowledge of wine, including varietals, regions, and winemaking techniques.
- Proven experience in wine buying or procurement, preferably in a retail or ecommerce environment.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of wine industry regulations and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for inventory and data analysis.
- WSET or equivalent wine certification is desirable.
- CIPS affiliate membership is desirable

£21,834.79-£23,500.00 per year
