An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Glaucoma Specialist to join our already established Ophthalmology team in Colchester Hospital.

You will provide clinical, professional and strategic leadership of Glaucoma Services within department.


Your responsibilities will include the management and delivery of direct clinical care to glaucoma patients and follow up care and discharge summaries.

This post is a permanent role, full time

  • 37.5 hours per week and it is open for Nurses, AHP's, Orthoptists and Optometrists.

To be recognised as a clinical expert in Glaucoma ensuring all advise and services provided are evidence-based and in line with national and local policies and guidelines.


To act as an advanced autonomous practitioner who is professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of work including decisions about treatment and management of highly complex patients.


To demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making by analysing highly complex facts or situations which maybe conflicting thus requiring an appraisal of a range of options.


To communicate highly complex and sensitive information using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, such as would be required when dealing with patients (and their relatives) with life limiting conditions and poor prognosis.
