FFX is a trade focused business specialising in sales across Power tools, Hand tools, Safety & Workwear to name a few.

We operate across 5 channels to market , eBay, Wholesale, B2b & Trade Counters.
We are now recruiting for a
Buyer play a key role by joining our busy Trade Counter in Folkestone.


Buyer - The role:


You will assist with buying and the ongoing review of products to ensure the branch remains competitive in the local marketplace.

This includes reviewing the marketplace, identifying areas to develop, making recommendations and liaison with internal departmentsto develop promotions and sales opportunities for the Branches.

A key element of the role is the support of the Technical Sales team through the timely preparation of quotes, either through existing suppliers or through new suppliers if better terms are available.

This can also include sourcing suppliers where items requestedare not currently available from the existing supplier portfolio.

In addition to this as our Buyer you will also be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Branch Manager with day-to-day stock ordering from suppliers
  • Work closely with the Branch Manager with regards the overall running of the site
  • Liaising with customers direct and through the Technical Sales team, responding to requests for quotes
  • Followup of quotes in a professional and timely manner to maximise sales.
  • Managing stock levels, intake & continuity against set SLAs with our suppliers
  • Develop the FFX portfolio of regular customers through forging strong relationships over the phone.
  • Managing the communication of all information requested by customers or given to FFX
  • Ensuring all orders with suppliers are placed before daily cut off times and that agreed delivery dates are adhered to.
  • Working closely with internal departments to communicate new lines, key offers and promotions.
  • Identifying orders from branch customers which suggest further sales opportunities.
  • Researching the external marketplace and making recommendations to keep FFX competitive.
  • Assisting with resolving supplier price queries.
  • Prioritising workload to ensure deadlines are met in a timely fashion.
  • Managing the daily updating of the system for all promotions and individual product status.
  • Assisting with negotiating and building long term and ongoing relationships with suppliers
  • Managing the production and weekly updates of spreadsheets on sales information
  • Assisting with daytoday promotions for the branch from ordering to ensuring that shelves are stocked.
  • Providing support to other areas of the Branch by being a proactive and helpful member of the team.
  • Clearance of Aged Stock within the branch
  • Managing the general administration so that all paperwork is properly filed, electronic files kept up to date.

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:


  • Previous trade buying experience with a proven track record of revenue generation, ranging principles and supplier negotiation
  • Ability to present a range plan for sign off along with margin and sales forecast
  • Previous experience in the sales office of a builder's merchant is desirable.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, the materials, tools and fixings used in each type of construction method is desirable.
  • Strong IT and system ability.
  • Business acumen, excellent level of numeracy and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent attention to detail, an ability to juggle numerous tasks while working to tight deadlines and a calm, organised presence are key qualities.
