My client is a highly progressive PLC business, leading the way within the education & technology Industry.


Since forming in 2013, they have developed a highly intuitive product & service which has secured vast investment along with partnerships with the world's leading IT / Technology businesses.

Following recent success, they are now about to embark on the next phase of growth and commercialisation within both UK and International Markets.


Due to the above, FRS have been engaged to handle the exclusive recruitment of a Finance Director / CFO Designate.


This position will work alongside the existing CFO for the next 2 years with the view of becoming the eventual successor of the CFO post retirement in the next 2 Years.


  • Partner the CFO with the creation of 5 year strategic planning pack and future commercialisation of this high growth business.
  • Assist CFO in M&A Activity to include due diligence on future International acquisitions including integration to group post acquisition.
  • Support of acquisition accounting and structure changes, opening balance sheet provisions, fair value assessments, share and asset acquisitions, disposal of business elements.
  • Build robust Budgeting and forecasting models, revenue models and utilise commercial acumen to review both UK and International growth areas.
  • Refine existing models / KPI's / Metrics business performance and build commercial insight on activity
  • Review and analyse business risk including FCA Risk for international acquisition and testing of PLC Controls
  • Refine and streamline processes and controls, and assist with migration to new ERP Accounting Software
  • Oversee and develop a small but growing finance function to ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual close process; validation of completeness and accuracy of the financial submission.
  • Act as the business technical expert on accounting standards, including a detailed understanding of IFRS, to allow assessments of complex transactions and propose accounting treatment


My client is a small but rapidly expanding business within a high growth area, already able to demonstrate results and with exciting plans to both utilise and build upon an already strong book of business.

This business has a unique product offering to which they are first to market with, already forging strong business relationships with the major PLC's within the technology sector and with endless scope to further commercialise their product offering to UKand International clients.


You will be able to demonstrate prior leadership experience building high performing teams, be comfortable with board / stake holder engagement and be able to communicate with gravitas and credibility.

Other desirable skills but non essential skills / experience

  • Prior experience gained within Technology, IT, Creative, Gaming, Marketing, Digital or Education Industries.
  • Prior experience of working for a start up business.
  • Prior experience of working for a PLC
  • Prior experience assisting with or delivering ERP migration
  • Prior experience delivering M&A Activity (Acquisitions or Disposals) with associated DD
  • Prior experience of working within a Top 10 Accounting Firm
