Position Context:
- Reporting to the Project & Engineering Manager.
Main tasks:
- Prepare detailed design drawings for inhouse Front End Engineering Design (FEED) studies and for fasttrack projects.
- Conduct field verification and site surveys of project sites prior to commencing design work.
- Maintain records of all conceptual and detailed design work, including 'as built' survey work.
- Assist discipline engineers in the preparation of technical comments on design submissions from consultants and contractors.
- Retrieve process and electrical drawings from archives as required for the assigned project.
- Perform calculations for lighting design and cable selection.
- Run daytoday installation work across I&E disciplines. Supervise the installation teams, support staff and subcontractors and related daytoday project activities on the sites.
- Support the Project Manager and/or Process/Project/Electrical Engineer(s) to ensure the installations are in compliance with Company processes and EH&S, design and maintenance standards.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisors at the Billingham and Middlesbrough sites to ensure, when assistance is requested, resource is allocated appropriately between sites to satisfy priorities and demand, including support for maintenance turnarounds.
- Specify and source materials in conjunction with the Indirect Procurement Manager.
- Provide technical expertise to produce design deliverables supporting modifications to existing equipment or purchasing new equipment including:
- HV/LV switchgear
- HV/LV electrical drives
- Variable speed drives
- UPS systems
- Power distribution
- Power system studies and electrical protection
- Other associated electrical equipment used within the Chemical industry.
- Ensure legislative compliance with CDM, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER & DSEAR.
- Provide technical support as required to breakdowns / tasks.
- Provide technical support to incident investigations and hazard reviews.
- Review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and procedures.
Required skills:
- Required
- Recognised electrical qualifications would be an advantage, such as CompEx (Ex12 Design Engineer Course), Electrical Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) and/or High Voltage Authorised Person
- Possess a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to the discipline.
- Have appropriate IT and CAD skills (AutoCAD).
- An understanding of risk management.
- Good organisational, leadership & management skills
- Good communication skills
- Fully conversant with Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry including CDM, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER & DSEAR
- Good understanding of strategic planning and turnaround activities.
- Project management experience.
- Exposure to a chemical manufacturing environment.
