Great Bear is a leading 3rd party logistics business providing a wide range of ambient warehousing services, shared-user and dedicated transport solutions to a wide variety of customers alongside offering a flexible mix of added-value services to simplify supply chain.
Our Desborough site are now recruiting for an Operations Controller on a full time permanent basis.
Salary:
£33,057.66 per annum.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off rotating (06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00)
Job Description:
The purpose of an Operations Controller is to contribute to the success of the site by supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that all schedules for inbound receipts and outbound loads are run efficiently, liaising with warehouse operatives, Shift Supervisors and Shift Managers to maintain a smooth flow of work throughout the shift.
Key Duties of an Operations Controller:
- Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to ensure collection and delivery times are met.
- Issuing instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of inbound and outbound work.
- Controlling paperwork for outbound vehicles ensuring the accuracy.
- Being the initial point of contact for all drivers arriving on site.
- Communicating issues to Shift Manager in a timely manner to minimise disruption to the schedule.
- Maintaining good communication with transport providers to ensure late collections and delivery failures are avoided.
- Producing a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift highlighting potential issues, reminders and current state of play.
- Participating as an active member of the operations team, and to offer suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer and quality focus.
Qualifications:
- Ability to prioritise work based on scheduling and available resources.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Must be a team player who is capable of working on their own initiative.
- Able to work to deadlines.
- PC Literate in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Should have good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to solve problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to network with suppliers, hauliers and customers.
